Traditional reinforced concrete bridges remain widely used, but they are prone to cracking, chloride ingress, and reinforcement corrosion, which raise maintenance costs and shorten service life. This paper reviews and systematizes modern materials and innovative technologies for bridge construction. It compares conventional solutions with next-generation systems, including ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC/UHPFRC), nanosilica and carbon nanotube modifications, shape memory alloys, crystalline admixtures, encapsulation and bacterial biomineralization, stainless-steel-clad rebar, bio-based admixtures, renewable waterproofing membranes, and robotic 3D printing. The analysis indicates that these technologies can improve strength, ductility, self-healing, corrosion and fatigue resistance, while reducing life-cycle costs, carbon footprint, VOC emissions, and construction time. The main challenge remains the adaptation of design codes and standards to new material capabilities. The findings support the development of safer, more durable, and environmentally sustainable bridge infrastructureenbridge constructionultra-high-performance concreteself-healing concreteshape memory alloyscorrosion-resistant reinforcement3D printingsustainable constructionlife-cycle assessmentModern materials and innovative technologies in bridge constructionThesis
