Climatic factors play one of the main roles in shaping the productivity of leguminous crops. Under favorable weather conditions and proper agricultural background, the chickpea yield can reach 2,5–4,2 t/ha, under extreme growing conditions (drought), the yield drops to 0,7–1,0 t/ha. In particularly dry years, chickpeas compete with peas in terms of productivity.
