The nematodoses are considered the most numerous group of cosmopolitan diseases among animal and human parasitoses. The representatives of the genus Trichuris attract special attention as pathogens of nematodoses. Their high fecundity, resistance to the influence of environmental factors and the ability to disperse create a serious ecological hazard and the risk of new outbreaks of infestation. The aim of the research was to establish the ovicidal efficiency of modern disinfectants on the embryogenesis of eggs of Trichuris skrjabini nematodes isolated from sheep. In laboratory conditions, two preparations were tested, DZPT-2 (mixture of glutaraldehyde, sodium dodecyl sulfate, essential oil) and Dixclor (mixture of sodium bisulfate, sodium chlorite, sodium percarbonate) at different concentrations and times of exposure. We established that DZPT-2 disinfectant showed a high level of ovicidal efficiency (97.5–100%) against T. skrjabini eggs at 4.5% concentration during exposure for 6–12 h and 5.0% concentration during exposure for 3–12 h. Dixclor showed a high level of ovicidal efficiency (100%) against Trichuris eggs at a concentration of 0.24% for exposures of 12 and 24 hours. Decreasing the concentration of disinfectants reduced the level of their ovicidal efficiency and led to the development of a greater number of viable eggs of T. skrjabini. Degenerative changes in the test cultures of T. skrjabini eggs caused by the tested disinfectants were characterized by the appearance and accumulation of air bubbles under the egg shell, the cessation of embryonic development at the bean-like embryo stage, loosening and resorption of the embryo inside the eggs, thinning and destruction of their shell, deformation of the eggs, and swelling of the egg plugs. Such destructive changes in eggs in experimental test cultures were also confirmed by the indicators of their morphometric parameters. Under the influence of DZPT-2 and Dixclor on the 54th day of cultivation, the length of the eggs was lower by 3.9%, and their width was greater by 4.8–5.1% compared to similar indicators in the control test culture. The obtained results allow one to recommend the tested disinfectants in defined and effective concentrations and exposures for effective control and prevention of trichurosis on livestock farms.Item Effect of temperature on the survival rates of the embryonic states of development of Trichuris skrjabini nematodes parasitizing sheep(2023-06) Yevstafieva, V. This study was conducted to determine the tolerance to a temperature factor of Trichuris skrjabini nematode eggs isolated from sheep. Trichuris eggs were obtained from the gonads of female nematodes in laboratory conditions and cultivated in a thermostat until the appearance of motile larvae in the eggs at the temperatures of 20°C, 25°C, and 30°C. It was determined that the time of formation of infectious eggs decreases with increasing temperature. The temperature of 25°С was found to be the most favorable for the development of T. skrjabini eggs in laboratory conditions, and 80.3% of eggs with motile larvae formed on the 54th day. Temperatures of 20°С and 30°С were less advantageous to the process of embryogenesis. The motile larvae develop in eggs in 63 days at 20°С and in 45 days at 30°С, and their respective survival rates are 77.0% and 75.3%. The obtained data increase the effectiveness of planning measures to prevent the trichurosis of sheep, taking into account the period of development of the pathogen depending on the temperature of the environmentItem Epitheliocystis: Development of PCR assay for the monitoring among the commercially important aquaculture species of Ukraine(2019) Zezekalo, Viktoria Kostyantynivna; Peredera, S. G.; Красота, Олена ГригорівнаThe red mite Dermanyssus gallinae (De Geer, 1778), a dangerous parasite of poultry which causes significant economic losses to poultry farming, is widespread, including in economically developed countries. These mites are transient blood-sucking parasites that can attack not only birds and other mammals, but also humans, causing itching and dermatitis. A deeper understanding of the morphology and identification of D. gallinae will allow us to avoid complications in their differentiation from similar dermanyssid parasites, which may share the host species and environment. The aim of the research was to describe the morphological features and metric parameters of gamasid mites of the species D. gallinae, isolated from chickens in Ukraine. Morphometric studies have identified 30 parameters in male and 40 indicators in female mites, which characterize the general structure of the body, speciesspecific morphological features, as well as characters of sexual dimorphism. In male and female mites, the structure and dimensions of the body, gnathosoma, idiosoma, tagmas, dorsal shield, specific arrangement of dorsal setae, length of adanal and postanal setae, as well as the distance between sternal setae st1–st1, st2–st2, st3–st3, st1–st2, st1–st3, metasternal setae mst–mst, ventral setae vl1– vl1, adanal setae ad–ad are described. A characteristic feature of females of D. gallinae is the presence of a stylet-like second cheliceral article, while in males there are no cheliceral articles of a stylet-like shape. In males, the dimensions of the sternogenital and ventroanal shields are additionally described and determined. In females, the dimensions of the sternal, genitoventral and anal shields, the genitoventral valve, the length of the setae st1, st2, st3, mst, and the distance between the setae st1–mst were additionally described and determined. For the first time, the dimensions of females with a formed egg in their body cavity were described and compared with the dimensions of female mites without eggs. The data obtained in this study expands existing data on the morphometric characteristics of male and female D. gallinaeItem Observations on the embryonic development of Trichuris sylvilagi (Nematoda, Trichuridae) under laboratory conditions(2021-08) Yevstafieva, V.
