S.; Kolomak, I. O.; Kravchenko, S. O.; Dmytrenko, N. I.; Burda, T. L.Histological examination of testicular tumours in cryptorchid males allows determining the nature of neoplasia, prognosis of long-term consequences in the form of metastases, and defining the optimal method of treatment of the animal, which determines the relevance of research in this area. The aim of the work is to determine the pathohistological structure of neoplasia of the left, cryptorchid, and morphology of the contralateral testes in a Yorkshire Terrier male with unilateral cryptorchidism. General clinical, ultrasonographic, radiological and histological methods were used in the examination of the animal. The article presents data on a mixed tumour of the intraperitoneal left testis of a 6-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, which is an atypical clinical case. It was found that the characteristic ultrasonographic features of the cryptorchid left testis tumour were numerous isoechoic foci of different diameters (from 4 to 26 mm), hyperechoic septa, and tuberous contours with a hyperechoic capsule. At laparotomy, the altered testis had an uneven surface saturated with blood vessels. The section showed milky-white neoplastic areas separated by fibrous bands that did not correspond to the normal structure of the organ. Histological examination of the parenchyma revealed areas of similar rounded cells in the form of a group of shapeless masses separated by a fibrous barrier. Neoplastic tubules had a developed fibrovascular stroma with an eosinophilic necrotic area. The protein membrane also had numerous fibrous formations. The layers of multifaceted cells were located perpendicular to the basal lamina, often with central necrosis, and the testicular mass contained multifocal haemorrhages. Such signs are characteristic of the lesion of Sertoli cells and interstitial Leydig cells, which indicated a mixed type of tumour of the left extraperitoneal testis of the Yorkshire Terrier. The contralateral right testis was unchanged and corresponded to the natural morphological and histological structure. The prostate was normal on macroscopic and histological examination, which has not been previously reported. Six-month follow-up of the dog showed no signs of metastatic process. The practical significance of the work is to obtain new scientific knowledge about the development of mixed tumours of the testis in cryptorchid males and the prospects for the treatment of diseased animalsPublication A panel of five microsatellites as an alternative to mitogenome sequencing for investigating the genetic diversity of Echinococcus granulosus sensu stricto from global to farm scale(2026) Umhang, G.; Bastid, V.; Rinaldi, L.; Pepe, P.; Ciccone, E.; Sotiraki, S.; Ligda, P.; Oudni-M’rad, M.; M’rad, S.; Lahmar, S.; Said, Y.; Elmehatli, K.; Ahmed, H.; Kuzmina, T.; Yevstafieva, V. F.; Saarma, U.; Grenouillet, F.; Bou´, F.; Aguayo, J.While the molecular identification of Echinococcus granulosus species is essential for surveillance, a detailed investigation of the parasite’s genetic diversity would offer a more accurate understanding of its transmission. This may be done by partial or whole mitochondrial genome sequencing, but both cost and time requirements limit routine application. Microsatellites are an alternative approach as they are a rapid, simple, highly discriminative, and low-cost tool. Our research project was designed to obtain a panel of microsatellite targets for population genetic analyses to describe the genetic diversity of E. granulosus sensu stricto (s.s.) at the global to farm scale. A panel of five informative microsatellite loci for population genetic analysis of E. granulosus s.s. was developed and validated. A total of 145 isolates from 11 countries were used to evaluate the panel at the international level. Additionally, 131 samples from sheep and cattle across six regions in southern Italy were analyzed to assess the panel’s usefulness at both the regional and farm scale. Population genetics showed high genotypic diversity. Simpson’s index gave high values (0.94–0.98) for the expected heterozygosity (0.80 to 0.87). Discriminant analysis of principal components (DAPC) revealed the structure of populations for each country, with Greece distinctly distant from Algeria, Italy, and Tunisia. This was also confirmed by FST values. DAPC further revealed a genetic structure among the farms from the Italian regional sample set, with three different clusters explained by different farming practices. This microsatellite panel can provide data relevant for E. granulosus s.s. population genetics from global to farm scale, making it a low-cost, simple alternative to full mitochondrial genome sequencing for analyzing numerous samples and obtaining a detailed overview of genetic diversity, an input that is useful for cystic echinococcosis control programsItem An Investigation of Embryo and Eggshell Development in Trichuris suis (Nematoda, Trichuridae) under Laboratory Conditions(2016-06-15) Yevstafieva, V. The pharmacological properties of plant extracts are of considerable significance for further research of substances as potential components of preventive veterinary medicinal products. The results of a study on the effectiveness of the following disinfectants are presented in the article: Iodoclean, Virosan, Ioderin, Multiclean Aqua, as well as chamomile and hawthorn tinctures. The antibacterial activity of the alcoholic tinctures and chemical disinfectants was assessed by measuring the zones of micro-organisms’ growth inhibition around the wells containing the test substances, using the agar well diffusion method. The study was aimed at comparing the effectiveness of 40 % chamomile tincture, 70 % hawthorn tincture, and Iodoclean, Ioderin, Multiclean Aqua, and Virosan chemical preparations against the sanitary indicator micro-organisms of Staphylococcus aureus, strain 209 and Escherichia coli, strain 1257.When determining the zone of inhibition of E. coli growth, Iodoclean demonstrated the highest activity with the zone of inhibition of 25 mm. Virosan was somewhat less active (24 mm), which is 1.04 times lower than Iodoclean. Multiclean Aqua and Ioderin disinfectants demonstrated the activity 1.19-1.25 times lower than Iodoclean. Chamomile tincture demonstrated the activity 2.08 times lower, and hawthorn tincture – 3.57 times lower, with the zone of inhibition of only 7 mm. In the study of the inhibition zones against Staphylococcus aureus, Virosan showed the greatest activity with the inhibition zone of 25 mm. Iodoclin and Multiclean Aqua were slightly less active, being 1.08 times lower than Virosan. Ioderin provided the inhibition zone of 22 mm, which is 1.13 times lower than that of Virosan. Chamomile and hawthorn tinctures turned out to be less effective compared to the other disinfectants. Their inhibition zones made 14 and 8 mm, respectively, which are 1.78 and 3.12 times lower than Virosan’s indicatorsPublication Contemporary knowledge on the assessment of temperament in cattle and its impact on production and reproduction including some immunological, genetic and metabolic parameters(2023) Jaśkowski, J.; Jaśkowski, B.; Herudzińska, М.; Tul, O. I.; Туль, Олександра Іванівна; Ciorga, М.Temperament is associated with the well-being, health, production and reproduction of cattle. In order to increase the population of individuals with the desired temperament, its evaluation should be standardized and be made one of the obligatory elements of breeding and veterinary examination. A number of different tests are used for temperament assessment. In this article, the importance of temperament correlation with some metabolic, genetic, immunological, production and reproductive parameters have been shown, pointing at its influence on the economy and cattle handling. The most common methods for assessing the temperament of cattle are presented, including long-time scales of temperament assessment. At the same time, the relationship of the temperament of cattle with production efficiency, immunity and reproductive indicators has been shown, indicating that its correct assessment is an important aspect of the proper development of the herd and the associated economic growthItem Content of chemical elements in the liver of cattle with fasciolosis and dicrocoeliosis(2018) Kruchynenko, O. V.; Мельничук, Віталій Васильович; Yevstafieva, V. O.; Євстаф’єва, Валентина Олександрівна; Bilan, M.; Zazharskyi, V.; Zazharska, N.; Davydenko, P.; Plys, V.; Shapran, I.; Yakovenko, V.; Zamaziy, A. A.; Замазій, Андрій АнатолійовичThe destruction of the Kakhovka HPP led to large-scale changes in the natural ecosystems of the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions of Ukraine, including changes in the soil microbiome. The research in the territory of Zaporizhia Oblast revealed natural, intensive phenomena of soil cover purification from organic matter contamination, including feces, occurring in the drainage zone formed as a result of the destruction of the dam. Sanitary state control allows us to assess the safety of soils for the environment and determine the possible impact on humans. Thus, a local contamination was revealed. The sanitary state of the soil was characterized by the presence of sanitary indicator microorganisms (Escherichia coli, Enterococcus spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Citrobacter spp., and Clostridium perfringens), which indicated fresh or old fecal contamination. The detection of thermophilic bacteria, Bacillus spp., and saprophytic fungi was correlated with the degree of organic matter transformation processes and stages of soil self-purification. In the soils in unsatisfactory sanitary condition, the coli titer the perfringens titer measured ≤ 0.9 and ≤ 0.009, respectively. Pathogenic Salmonella spp. were not detected in any of the soil samples, yet Mycobacterium spp. were isolated. In the soils of the drainage zone of most of the studied transects, the presence of E. coli and sulfite-reducing bacteria was established. The results obtained can be used for further monitoring and control of the sanitary condition of soils affected by the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP in order to prevent the spread of pathogenic microorganisms in natural ecosystems
